Succulents and Sunshine

My daughter and I scoured garage sales and flea markets for silver-plated bowls.  She planted succulents in them and used them for stunning centerpieces for her wedding.

Now they are scattered throughout their gardens and adorn their deck.  She found the copper and steel buckets to add a little extra height and interest.

Quite a Quilt

I bought this quilt a year ago at a neighborhood yard sale.  The woman said it was from the southwest and she had purchased it about 20 years ago.  It's in perfect condition.  The stitching alone is a wonder.  The design and colors are so refreshing.  I took it out and put it on the bed just to get a burst of spring on a cold, dreary winter day.

Keeping Things Together - Having a Place for Everything

In my work room I try to keep organized.  When Cindy and I spotted this shaving mug, we had to buy it.  The woman at the sale said it wasn't for sale because she was keeping the loose change in it, but we offered the right price. She gladly handed it over.  It reminds us of our Dad.  We can see him getting ready for work, leaning over the sink in his white t-shirt, shaving.  We can smell the Old Spice.

Green depression glass holds all the vintage silverware that we're going to make something with someday.....sure.

Old tins hold misc. ribbon, thread, and embroidery floss.  The one with the holiday ribbon has an image of the Queen Mary sailing on the Atlantic.  The tin in the foreground is Piccadilly Circus, London.  They sit upon our Grandma's sewing box.
